Under the Rapid Search Admin > Settings > Advanced menu, you can find such settings that let you further fine-tune your search engine to improve the conversion rate of your store. By hovering over the small information icon, you get additional info for each setting.

Advanced settings require some expertise or at least a thorough knowledge of your web store.

The Handle typos button is turned on by default, as one of the most useful and popular features of Rapid Search is autocorrect (i.e. to list iPhones when someone types ihpone in the search box).

Our Handle typos setting will work with these details:

0-2 characters: no typo correction

3-5 characters: 1 character misspell/switch/leave out is allowed

6+ characters: 2 characters misspell/switch/leave out is allowed

However, there are stores where product names must match the search term exactly; as in the case of printers, changing a single character in the product name may already give a different product as a result. If your products fall under such a category, it is recommended that you turn off the Handle typos button so that Rapid Search only lists results for a complete match.

In this menu, you can change the Default product sorting option. This will affect the sorting in the instant search box and on the search results page, too.

The currently available default product sorting options are:

1. Relevance

2. Popularity

3. Price - Ascending

4. Discount Percentage

If you are missing a default product sorting option from the list, please see the feature requests menu or reach out to our support.

1. Products are by default sorted by Relevance (= the most relevant products will appear for the search term according to your Search field weights settings - more details on these settings will be available below).

2. The Default product sorting option can be set to Popularity (= popular products will be prioritized, but relevance is also calculated (we consider product views and orders from the last 30 days). We count orders only that are paid & fulfilled and one order is equal to 50 product views.)

3-4. Choosing Price - Ascending and Discount percentage from the list are recommended primarily when doing stock sweeping or promotions: in these cases, the relevance is not taken into account; Rapid Search simply prioritizes the cheapest products or the ones with the biggest discount rate.

Synchronization:
The Rapid Search search engine requires your data to be updated to display all products and information correctly. Should you want to make sure that freshly uploaded products or prices appear in the search, or if you experience any synchronization issue, press the Manual sync button, and synchronization will run in 5-15 minutes depending on the product count of your store. Please note, that a full synchronization requires more background loading time to update all of your items and collections. The time needed is based on the number of your smart collection- and product number and in the case of some bigger stores, this can take up to a few hours as well.

Under Search field weights, you can set the weight of each field in search. If you do not want Rapid Search to search in certain fields (i.e. in tags), you can select here Disable search field, and fields that are particularly important for your store (i.e. product name or SKU) set them to Extra large weight. Rapid Search can search in a product's Title, Description, SKU, Barcode, Tags, Vendor, Attributes, Product type, and Metafields*.

*We can search in the following types of metafields: Single line text (one value and list of values), multi-line text, rich text.

Auto-generated keywords:
After installation, Rapid Search constantly "learns"; meaning it shows more and more relevant popular suggestions and products in the search box based on past searches and product views. The auto-generated keywords feature allows for better results with minimal data. You may want to leave this button turned on for a few weeks after installing Rapid Search to eliminate the problem of "cold start".

If your store has multiple languages, you may use a multi-language app to help you switch between languages within the store. Rapid Search supports several of these apps. You can enable multi-language at the Multi-language support, and check the list of the supported apps by clicking on the (link at the end of the section.

Hide resources is a very handy feature available for everyone. It allows you to hide and unhide products and/or collections of your choice.

Please note that hiding a product with this setting will edit an aspect of the product which will make the product hidden until you specifically remove the hiding from this setting. If you disable or uninstall Rapid Search while having some items hidden, they will remain hidden.

Please see our article on how to Hide products from search.

The option Hide products by tags will allow you to hide and unhide all products at once that are tagged with a tag of your choice. Simply enter the tag of which you would like to hide products in your store, and click Add, and Save.

To remove the hiding of the products with this tag, please click the X button next to the relevant tag and Save.

Suggested products for no results and before typing:

No results feature: when a search term a visitor enters ends with no results, Rapid Search, instead of a blank page, displays the most popular products in your store.

Zero-character search feature: when a visitor clicks in the search input field, by default, Rapid Search immediately shows 5 key terms as Popular searches and 5 product suggestions as Trending Products.

It is now possible for you to choose those products you wish to see as Trending products in both zero-character search and on the no-results page by setting your Suggested products for no results and before typing setting to Custom and adding products.
